I’ve been thinking a lot about…dots.
I love writing with…dots (aka ellipsis).
My grandmother’s nickname was Dot.
I have a fun dot painting project below.
I just read an article* about creativity and connecting the dots that said…
“Creative people are constantly exposing themselves to new experiences, environments, ideas, and ways of thinking. These are dots. Dots are new experiences, points of view, information, people, environments, ideas, and ways of thinking. Creativity is about seeing the world in new ways, finding hidden patterns, making connections between seemingly unrelated phenomena, and generating solutions.”
(*This quote is from article written by Kayden Hines in Medium. )
I love this! When I do author visits, kids (and sometimes adults) ask me where I come up with ideas.
The answer is...everywhere. I’m always collecting bits and pieces of information, strange facts, interesting stories, unusual people, places, smells, sights, tastes…DOTS!
Ideas (and stories!) happen when all those dots swirl together, creating new patterns, and I…(say it with me!)...connect the dots.
This is one of the most important things we can do to develop our own creativity AND creativity in kids.
Enjoy gathering dots with this fun dot painting project. :)
