The Presenters

hemingway-typeKenny Mikey and Riley Roam are the Emmy award-winning creators of Page Turner Adventures, an interactive touring theater company that produces Super Sized Stories for family audiences. They travel the world presenting shows, workshops, and author talks that transform kids into Storyologists. They’ve also written and produced content for FOX Kids, Scholastic, The Travel Channel, PBS, and the International Reading Association.

Kenny’s background as a former Ringling Bros. Clown, improvisational comedy coach, and video-storyteller make the shows and workshops an experience students will never forget.

As a professional Storyologist, Riley is able to convey her passion for writing, reading, books, stories, and creativity to both kids and adults. She is the author of THE GREAT PIZZA CONTEST, a picture book and touring stage show, and she recently completed a middle grade novel that is currently being shopped to publishers. Riley has also written a number of books for Heinemann Publishing/Fountas & Pinnell (a division of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt).

Author Talks

Riley brings her experience as a professional storyteller, performer and workshop leader to her dynamic author talks. Games, writing activities, story prompts, video clips, and music are used throughout the multi-media presentation to help kids explore their inner author.

They’ll also discover ways to: structure a story, create characters, find ideas, edit & revise … and use real people in their writing without getting in trouble!

Sidesplitting SUPER SIZED Shows

Everyone in the audience becomes the HERO of a Page Turner Adventure, influencing the action, solving problems and overcoming obstacles. The shows combine comedy, storytelling, slapstick, juggling, unicycling, stilt walking, and larger-than-life props and costumes for a totally unique theatrical experience.

“Contagious, relevant, inspiring, hilarious. These shows provide that motivation to read for kids that haven’t really gotten into reading. You helped our kids see what it looks like to put together a story because they, themselves were a part of the story.” Christina Dominique-Pierre-ES Librarian, Concordia International School

Storyology Workshop: Interactive Creative writing/storytelling

The Storyology workshop includes creative writing, storytelling and improvisation activities where the kids actually get to create a story as they physically act it out. Along the way they learn about character, setting, plot, conflict, story structure, character arc, tone, and more. Kids are empowered to see themselves as writers as they see their own ideas incorporated directly into the story.

S.T.E.A.M. Workshop: The Science of Stories (and movies)

How do movies work? What’s the science behind the phenomenon? What technology did early cinematographers and storytellers invent to exploit this trick? How were those devices engineered? How is math integral to movie making? These questions are more are explored in this fun workshop that explores the STEAM of movie making. Kids will use Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math as they create Thaumatropes and Phenokistoskopes, some of the earliest forms of movie magic. Everyone will get to create their own mini-animation and see how STEAM impacts all areas of their life. This workshop is the perfect companion to the STEAM family show.
