A Very Cheesy Contest – Win a Copy of The Great Pizza Contest Book!

Live Pizza Show

Live Pizza Show

Ever been to the town of Mozzarella? You have if you’ve been to a live production of THE GREAT PIZZA CONTEST show or read the popular kids book by yours truly. It’s the cheesy tale of two feuding pizza makers, Vincent Van Dough and Leonardo Da Munchi. Vincent thinks the dough is the most important part of the pizza, Leonardo believes it’s the sauce! When everyone in the town starts to argue, it’s up to Mayor Ann Chovi (and the audience) to help solve the problem.

For years, Kenny and I have been using this story for kids to transform audiences into wacky pizza makers, and for just as many years, we’ve had requests to turn the show and book into a readers theater script so that kids can perform it themselves. Well…(drum roll please)…it’s finally here! We have a free Pizza Show readers theater script and we want you to have it.

Pencil Thin Mustache

But wait there’s more….we also have fun activities to do with children including our new mustache craft so kids can easily transform into Vincent and Leonardo (yes, even the girls). PLUS, we have a brand, spankin’ new study guide to go along with the show and book that is filled with even more tasty learning activities, crafts, games, etc. You’ll find them ALL at our Pizza Show Activities Page. And if you’d like to order the book for reading with your children, it’s on sale here.

To celebrate we’re holding a VERY CHEESY CONTEST to win an autographed copy of The Great Pizza Contest book! Just leave a comment on the blog and/or comment on our Page Turner Adventures Facebook Page.

(You’ll be entered twice if you comment on the blog and facebook). What kind of comment? Well, you can tell us your favorite pizza topping or weird pizza fact. Here’s one…Did you know that some popular pizza toppings in Japan are squid and mayo jaga (mayonnaise, potato and bacon)? Or tell us what you thought about the show and/or the book. You can also just say hi.

P.S. You’ll get an extra entry if you post a picture with a mustache!

Thanks for participating!

  1. You guys are the best … Since seeing your show my children ask to read your book every night before they go to sleep … Thanks for creating such wonderful memories for us to share

  2. My son loved being in your show when you came to our town! We would love to win a copy of your book!nThank you for such a great resource!

  3. Tanya Williams says:

My son Cooper was in your show in Jonesboro, La a couple of years ago…he LOVED it. He played Vincent. When you guys asked him his name he thought you meant the character, so he said “I don’t remember.” Everybody got a good laugh and he still tells the story:)

  4. My niece and nephews like this book–but I’m not telling the ending, it’s a surprise!

  5. I need to go find the great photo Kate Showalter took at Christmas time when all of us were wearing mustaches. Now that I’m a grandma, I have lots of interest in kids’ books again. Congrats on yours!

  6. Youth Services Department says:

As a small independent library with a smaller programming budget, we do a lot of staff driven activities.
We would love to win a copy of The Great Pizza Contest. A reader’s theater presentation by our teen group, of the high jinks in the town of Mozzarella, would be a hit at our annual Viva Italia celebration!
