Global Day of Play inspired by Caine’s Arcade

Today is a Global Day of Play. How will you celebrate? We’ll be at the A-Maz-ing Cardboard Challenge at Pleasant City’s Blum Park inspired by Caine’s Arcade. Caine is an awesome little boy who built an arcade out of cardboard and inspired the world! Caine’s Arcade

  1. I love Caine’s Arcade. I’ve watched this ten-minute film several times, and it always brings tears to my eyes. Thanks for helping me remember what it’s like to be a child and to love to play. I need that connection as I write a memoir of my own childhood.

  2. Thanks, Shirley! Memoir is an interesting topic for this blog. Have you ever written memoirs with kids? They’d probably be short but interesting!

  3. This is such an inspirational story, Riley. I had my kids watch it and they were so amazed at his creativity and determination. I now find myself allowing the kids to keep old cardboard boxes and other ‘junk’ around the house to build things…I used to be militant about tossing everything to avoid clutter. Now I realize that was doing them a disservice – who knows, maybe we could have a waterpark in the backyard!

  4. This was a great video, thanks for sharing it Riley! I shared it with (not so much) baby girl and she loved it as well. It’s such a great thing when we can encourage this kind of creativity with our kids by just allowing their minds to wander!
